Job Title: Robot Repair Operations Intern

Job Summary:

This position assists the robot repair team in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing robotic systems and components. The intern will work alongside experienced repair professionals to ensure the efficient operation of robotic equipment, while also gaining insight into the maintenance and repair processes used in an industrial robotics environment.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist with Repairs:

  • Support the robot repair team in diagnosing and troubleshooting robotic systems, including robotic arms, sensors, and actuators.
  • Help with the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of robotic components as needed.
  • Learn to replace faulty parts and assist in calibrating robots to restore them to full functionality.
  • Update and troubleshoot software and firmware configurations.
  • Calibrate sensitive electronic components using proprietary software tools and calibration equipment.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures to ensure safe and effective robot navigation following repairs.

Support Preventive Maintenance:

  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks on robotic systems to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
  • Help clean, inspect, and maintain robotic parts and systems in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.

Documentation and Tracking:

  • Record details of repairs, maintenance activities, and system performance for internal tracking.
  • Maintain inventory logs for spare parts and tools used in repairs.
  • Assist with documenting the status of repair projects and contribute to team reports on system health.

Learning and Development:

  • Participate in training sessions to learn about different types of robotic systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.
  • Shadow senior team members to learn industry best practices.
  • Gain hands-on experience with diagnostic equipment like multimeters. Perform other related duties or specialized areas as assigned.

Preferred Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:

  • Any previous experience with electronics, robotics, or technical repairs (e.g., academic projects, personal projects, or prior internships) is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, or ROS.
  • Experience reading and troubleshooting using log files
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Experience with hand tools, calibration and measurement equipment

Education/Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Basic coursework or hands-on projects related to robotics, electrical circuits, or automation systems is preferred.
